Responsible Gambling

At Chevets, we are committed to promoting safe and responsible gambling. Betting should always remain an enjoyable form of entertainment and should never be seen as a way to make money. If you feel that gambling is no longer fun, it is important to take steps to regain control.

Recognising Problem Gambling

Problem gambling can affect anyone. Here are some warning signs to be aware of:

  • Spending more money or time on gambling than you can afford.
  • Chasing losses by placing larger or more frequent bets.
  • Borrowing money or selling possessions to fund gambling.
  • Neglecting work, education or family responsibilities due to gambling.
  • Feeling anxious, irritable or restless when not gambling.
  • Lying to others about the extent of your gambling activity.
  • Using gambling as a way to escape problems or cope with negative emotions.

If you recognise any of these signs in yourself or someone you know, we strongly encourage you to seek support.

Tools to Help You Stay in Control

All UKGC-licensed betting operators are required to provide a range of responsible gambling tools. These include:

  • Deposit Limits — Set daily, weekly or monthly caps on how much you can deposit into your account.
  • Loss Limits — Restrict the total amount you can lose within a given period.
  • Session Time Limits — Set reminders or automatic logouts after a specified duration of play.
  • Reality Checks — Receive periodic notifications showing how long you have been playing and your net wins or losses.
  • Cool-Off Periods — Temporarily suspend your account for a set period (24 hours to 6 weeks).
  • Self-Exclusion — Exclude yourself from a specific operator for a minimum of 6 months.

Self-Exclusion Schemes

GAMSTOP

GAMSTOP is the UK's national online self-exclusion scheme. By registering with GAMSTOP, you can restrict your access to all UKGC-licensed online gambling operators for a period of 6 months, 1 year or 5 years. Visit gamstop.co.uk to register.

Multi-Operator Self-Exclusion

For land-based betting shops and venues, you can request self-exclusion directly with individual operators or through local multi-operator schemes coordinated by the Betting and Gaming Council.
